5. Sandra Hemme - Fängslad som 20-åring, släppt som pensionär

I november 1980 hittas en bibliotekarie död i sitt hem i Missouri. 20-åriga Sandra Hemme, som spenderat hela livet på psykiatriska institutioner, döms för brottet. Påverkad av diverse mediciner erkänner hon mordet, trots att hon inte känner offret och har fel i många detaljer. Dessutom finns starka spår mot en polis som hade offrets örhängen i sin garderob, och befann sig på platsen dagen för mordet.
