The Sydney Fishmarket is one of the most iconic fish markets in the world and is now the biggest in the southern hemisphere handling around 15,000 tonnes of seafood a year. As Australia’s ‘home of seafood’, Sydney Fish Market is the lifeblood for fishers, aquaculturalists and co-operatives from not only around the country but also New Zealand and even Indonesia and Malaysia . The Market is currently undergoing a redevelopment which, when completed in 2024 promises a state-of-the-art facility – befitting a waterfront icon on par with the Sydney Opera House. Gus Danoon is a 40 year veteran of not only the Sydney Fish market but of the Australian Seafood industry. Over his time at SFM Gus has been a driver of change, overseeing it’s transition from a rough and tumble clearing house to one of the most sophisticated and progressive seafood markets in the world. https://www.sydneyfishmarket.com.au Follow Fishtales, a Seafood Podcast on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/fishtalesseafoodpodcast/ Follow John Susman https://www.instagram.com/fisheads/?hl=en Follow Rob Locke (Executive Producer) https://www.instagram.com/foodwinedine/ Follow Huck (Executive Producer) https://www.instagram.com/huckstergram/ LISTEN TO OUR OTHER FOOD PODCASTS https://linktr.ee/DeepintheWeedsNetwork
